Welcome to the

Liberal Catholic Church International

PROVINCE OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND

Our church is catholic but independent. We invite you to join us for any of our services. Participation in the Great Work of God in the Mass and other sacraments is more important than a profession of beliefs or adherence to dogma. We maintain intellectual freedom for all. No teaching, creed, tradition, or writing must be accepted with anything more than general agreement.
We teach that there is an ancient science of spiritual unfolding the divine potentialities which exist in every person. Knowledge of religious teachings may be acquired by several means, including direct and personal observation.
God is adored as a loving Father, not a fierce tyrant. Our services inspire joyous devotion, not guilt or oppression. Humans are an unfolding intelligence clothed in a physical body (John 10:34). There exists, within each of us, the latent powers of divinity, which unfold and grow through contact with the material world. Our true self is spiritual, but that self is often confused by the garments of a physical being (Romans 7:8-12). Our path, even though it often seems difficult or even hopeless, has a single ending that never fails: the conquest by the spiritual of the material. Those who are more evolved are giants of the intellect, saints of compassion, and powerful agents for good.

We offer the world faith, hope, and love. We never impose dogma or dictates. No member of the LCCI's clergy makes any claim to authority over any individual conscience. We do not coerce. The world is each individual's theater. Expressions of spiritual unfolding can be varied and unique.

  • We honor each person's incarnation.
  • We remember the immutable laws of universal justice, which determine an individual's experience after transition from this life (Galatians 6:7)
  • We do not make any statement on the range of experiences which may befall us after death

We are less concerned with the specifics of a historical man who lived more than 2,000 years ago than we are with the Christ who lives today (Matthew 18:20). This is a mighty spiritual Presence in the world, guiding and sustaining us all.

We do not discriminate on grounds of race, gender or sexual orientation.

Our lives are enriched and empowered by the outflow of the Christ-energy at our altars, in our services, and through our lives. This power is capable of producing an effect on material things and in our spiritual growth. The energy of our World Teacher floods our beings like light bulbs drive darkness from a room. Spiritual light expels hatred, disease, and depression. It produces joy, peace, and love.

Mystical, Inclusive, Intellectual, Open, Joyous

The LCCI Province of Great Britain and Ireland is led by Archbishop Elizabeth Stuart ssb. We offer an inclusive Catholicism grounded in one of the most profound and mystical translations of the Tridentine Rite ever produced. All are welcome at our services and we open our altars to all. Following the example of our founders, Bishops Wedgewood and Leadbeater, we are interested in dialogue with the mystical traditions of other faiths and spiritualities. For details of LCCI parishes and missions please contact Mtr Liz Jones.

We work towards the realisation of the priesthood of all believers through the ancient Minor Orders as well as the three major orders. If you would like to discuss your sense of vocation then please contact Mtr Liz Jones.
